An Evening of French and Blues - 14th July 2007

At the Wynd Theatre in Melrose, Hilary and Ian Lowthian will delight you with an enchanting programme of French songs. Hilary's convincing accent with Ian's authentic accordion music will transport you to France. The second half of the evening illustrates the flexibility of Hilary's voice as she sings many of your favourites from the blues era. This show will run and run.

Hilary continues to be in demand for public and private performance. She performs with Lucy Cowan, John Nichol and Ian Lowthian in many Burns events and theatre productions including War & Glaur the Nichol penned comment on the 1st world war bringing together the writings of many Scottish writers of the period linked with music written by Hilary to complement the words of the time.

Hilary has been teaching singing at the Borders Traditional Music Centre in Selkirk since its opening and has conveyed the enjoyment experienced when singing to a large number of pupils as they progress through their secondary education. When they leave they take with them an increased knowledge and appreciation of traditional music including a large repertoire of material for personal singing or public performance.

Hilary joins John Nichol in IDEOMS theatre company to continue the acting relationship forged with the Rowan Tree Company. Working within this independent company has allowed both Hilary and John to develop their artistic talents at their own pace and in their chosen direction.
